And that this resistance groups symbol has appeared at our uni. If they ever try to give me a flag burning kit they wont know what bloody hit them, dickheads!!
How many of our soldiers died under that flag, how many achievements have we recorded under that flag. For crying out loud my pop was put into a Japanese prisoner of war camp under that flag, and he believed in the reason why he was there and he made it out. A lot fo other very brave men and women didn’t.
If you think Australian’s so bad and that you should have more from your freedom of speech why don’t you go to another country where you have no rights and no freedom and see how bad you’ve got it then.
Some people think they are so bloody smart; I am all for fighting for freedom and for rights but you lot are just bloody selfish. How many people from other countries become Australian citizens every year, how many people have died for this country, won medals and achievements for this country? And that includes Aboriginal people as well, there are many Aboriginal people who have made a go of it in this country and proudly stood under that flag as well as their traditional flag.
Nothing will make up for past wrongs, and I’m not particularly happy with our government right now either but our flag has nothing to do with that. Our flag encompasses every person in this country. When you burn that flag you are insulting every Australian citizen. Hollywood star Nicole Kidman will be named goodwill ambassador of the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the fund says. The news comes as she was honoured on Australia Day for her community work. The 38-year-old Australian will work with UNIFEM to advance women's rights and gender equality around the world, with a special focus on issues such as ending violence against women. She was appointed a companion in the general division of the Order of Australia (AC) in the 2006 Australia Day Honours for her services to performing arts as an acclaimed motion picture performer. Kidman was also awarded for her dedication to health care through contributions to improve medical treatment for women and children and advocacy for cancer research. This acknowledgment also took into account Kidman's passion for youth services and her support for young performing artists, and to humanitarian causes domestically and internationally.

2006/1/15 Shelley WintersWell today the woman I was named after died at age 85
  I was named after Shelley Winters because of how larger then life she was and how outgoing, brassy and vivacious her personality was. Mum hoped that by giving me her name I too would ahve the confidence to be myself and have the confidence that she might not have had herself.She borrowed the stage name of Shelley from her favourite poet Percy Shelley, her birthday was 2 days after mine and 65 years earlier.
In the 1940's she shared an apartment with Marilyn Monroe, they shared clothes and Shelley is even rumored to be the one who taught Monroe to 'act pretty'.
 In 1960, Winters was among the sponsors of a very controversial advertisement in The New York Times, along with Eleanor Roosevelt and Diahann Carroll, for
"The Committee to Defend Martin Luther King Jr. and the Struggle for Freedom in the South."
Gloria Steinem once said that Winters helped lay the groundwork for the women's movement, by portraying victims who fought back.
 So RIP Shelley, thanks for the legacy and a pretty name.
